Jeffrey (21 y/o) was born and raised in Southern California and grew up sailing in Newport Beach, CA at the Balboa Yacht Club at the age of 5. He has competed around the world representing the United States and the Balboa Yacht Club in several international youth and open championships. Jeffrey has been match racing for over 5 years, while also competing at the highest levels of dinghy sailing, collegiate sailing, and offshore racing. He and his team are currently ranked 12th in the Open Match Race Rankings.
Jeffrey founded Golden State Match Racing in 2019 as a campaign to get to the World Match Racing Tour and to compete in events like the Gold Cup and the Congressional Cup with a youth team. The team has an average age of 22 years old and aims to compete at the highest levels of match racing. The team’s primary sponsors are Dr. Robert Bray and The DISC Sports and Spine Centre and Harken Derm. Jeffrey is a 3 time youth match racing national champion, the current Governors Cup Champion, and reigning Youth World Match Racing Champion. Jeffrey and the team have raced at the highest levels of the tour including the Congressional cup and the GKSS Match Cup, and took 4th place in the overall World Match Racing Tour 2021 championship leaderboard. This will be the first time Jeffrey and his team have raced in Bermuda.
Jeffrey and team have experience match racing all types of boats and look to proudly represent the Balboa Yacht Club, the United States, and youth sailing this event. He is looking forward to his first Bermuda Gold Cup.
